My opinion on unreality, meaninglessness and propriety is simple: that the so-called language game, when really it's a behaviour game, is the behaviour of choice, by which it's proper to behave that way. The following should be the government of some of my behaviour: talk in a gentle tone of voice, deny myself and prefer others, beware of meddlers and tale-bearers, talking is valued but even more valuable is silence, never neglect little things if they affect the comfort of others, never speak or act in anger, say kind and pleasant things when opportunity arises, learn to govern myself and be gentle & patient, at a tea party, only simple articles of food may be used: thin slices of bread and butter, sandwiches, fancy biscuits & cakes, chocolate, coffee, tea, ice-cream and bouillon; lemonade or punch may be used without any wine or alcohol added, those are just some of the things I can do or can't do. This behavioural game can come with many many rules but I keep it really simple because I don't want to become a complete gentleman, but these are the propriety rules I never knew existed and even my book on gentlemanliness doesn't say them.
